Creative Europe is the European Commission’s framework- programme for support to the culture and audiovisual sectors.

Creative Europe is the European Commission’s framework- programme for support to the culture and audiovisual sectors. With a budget of 2.4 billion Euros, the Creative Europe programme 2021-2027, attempts to contribute to the recovery of the cultural and creative sectors; whilst reinforcing their efforts to become more digital, greener, more resilient and more inclusive. Its main novelties are a stronger emphasis on transnational creation and innovation, easier access to funding, strengthening of the competitiveness of the European audiovisual sector, a mobility scheme for artists and professionals, and actions targeting sector-specific needs.

The Creative Europe programme is divided into two strands; Culture and Media, and is supported by the Cross-sectoral strand.

The Culture Strand of the Creative Europe Programme supports a wide range of Cultural and Creative Sectors and encourages cooperation and exchanges amongst cultural organisations and artists.  The sectors include:  architecture, cultural heritage, design, literature and publishing, music, and performing arts.

The Media Strand of the Creative Europe Programme supports the European Film and audiovisual industries to develop, distribute and promote European works. In addition, it encourages cooperation across the value chain of the audiovisual industry and at EU level, in order to scale up enterprises and European content globally.

The Cross Sectoral strand facilitates collaboration across different cultural and creative sectors to help them address common challenges and find innovative solutions whilst supporting the cross-sectoral transnational policy cooperation. It also encourages innovative approaches to content creation, access, distribution, and promotion across cultural and creative sectors.
